Welcome to Eskoler. This Privacy Policy outlines how Eskoler (“we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, protects, and handles the personal data of students, parents, and school administrators (“users,” “you”) who use our mobile application and web platforms.
By using Eskoler, you agree to the practices described in this policy. Our data handling practices strictly comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2026 of India, and Google Play Developer Policies.
1. Our Commitment: Child Safety & Real-Time Updates First
Eskoler was built with a singular mission: to bridge the communication gap between schools and homes. We focus on delivering real-time updates to parents regarding their children’s academic life, daily activities, and physical whereabouts (such as transport alerts).
Because our platform revolves around students, child safety, and data privacy are our absolute top priorities. We treat student data with the highest level of sensitivity. Eskoler is designed to ensure that parents are always informed and that minor data is enclosed in a secure, role-based ecosystem where only authorized guardians and school staff have access.
2. Information We Collect and How We Use It
To provide a secure and efficient school management experience, Eskoler collects personal data and requests specific device permissions.
A. Personal Identification Information (PII) We process data provided by the educational institution (the school) during the onboarding process. This includes student names, parent contact details, enrollment IDs, and academic records (such as attendance, daily diary entries, and exam results). This data is used strictly for educational tracking and parent communication.
B. Device Permissions To function effectively and securely, the Eskoler App requests the following device permissions. We only use these permissions for the specific features listed below:
- Camera: We request camera access solely so students, parents, or staff can capture a photo to set or update their profile picture. We do not access the camera in the background.
- Photos/Media (Storage): We request access to your device’s photo gallery strictly so you can select and upload an existing photo for your profile picture. We do not scan, read, or upload any other media from your device.
- Biometrics (Fingerprint/Face Unlock): To prevent unauthorized access to sensitive student data, we use your device’s native biometric sensors to secure the app upon launch. Biometric data is processed locally on your device; it is never transmitted to, or stored on, Eskoler servers.
- Notifications: Push notifications are the core of our real-time update system. We use this permission to instantly alert parents and students about critical school information, including exam schedules, daily attendance, transport updates, school alerts, and daily diary logs.
(Note: Eskoler does not currently track background location. Transport alerts are managed via the school’s administrative inputs).
3. How We Protect Your Data
We utilize industry-standard security measures to safeguard your information:
- Encryption: All data transmitted between the Eskoler app and our servers (app.eskoler.com) is encrypted using secure HTTPS/TLS protocols.
- Role-Based Access Control: A parent can only view the data of their specific enrolled child. Students can only view their own profiles. Only authorized school administrators have broader access, ensuring data remains strictly confidential.
4. Sharing of Data
Eskoler does not sell, rent, or trade student or parent data to any third parties. Information is strictly shared only with:
- The student’s respective school administration and teaching staff for operational and educational purposes.
- Trusted cloud infrastructure providers (e.g., secure hosting servers) necessary to keep the app online, which are bound by strict data processing agreements and confidentiality clauses.
5. Children’s Privacy and Minor Data
As an educational platform, Eskoler processes the personal data of minors. This processing is performed exclusively under the direct authorization of the participating school, which acts as the data fiduciary. Parents and guardians provide consent through the school enrollment process. We do not use student data for targeted advertising or marketing of any kind.
6. Data Retention and Account Deletion
We retain personal data only for as long as a user’s account is active or as required by the school to fulfill its educational services.
- User Rights: Under the DPDP Act, parents and students have the right to access, correct, or request the deletion of their personal data.
- How to Delete: To request account deletion or the removal of personal data, parents should contact their school administrator directly, or reach out to Eskoler support. Upon a verified request from the school or parent, data will be permanently purged from our active servers within 30 days.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as we add new features (such as live bus tracking) or as legal requirements evolve. We will notify users of any significant changes by updating the “Effective Date” at the top of this page and sending an in-app notification to parents and administrators.
